Currently, eVoucher only works with certain browsers -- Internet Explorer and Safari. But starting with the introduction of Windows 8, even Internet Explorer might need to use "Compatibility Mode."
[The eVoucher sign-in screen will note that, if your browser is not acceptable.]
To set 'Compatibility Mode'
- Go to the website in question (eVoucher, in this case)
- Click 'Tools' on the top menu (or click the gear icon in the top right corner, or press ALT-X)
- Click 'Compatibility View settings'
- The site name should already be filled in under 'Add this website:', so just click 'Add' and then 'Close'
That website will now use the special mode. This mode allows certain older websites to still work correctly with newer browsers and newer internet standards.
However, for some users, that setting does not 'stick' -- it gets forgotten when you close your browser, and you have to redo it every time.
Here's the solution to that problem:
- Open your Internet Explorer browser -- any page will do
- Click 'Tools' at the top (or click the gear icon in the top right corner, or press ALT-X)
- Click 'Internet Options' then the 'General' tab of that window
- From here, you have two methods, depending on your preferences:
Method 1: UNCHECK the box that says "Delete browsing history on exit" and then click 'OK'
This will fix the problem.
However, some users may prefer to always delete browsing history upon exiting.
If so, you must use method #2.
-- or --
Method 2: LEAVE that box ("Delete browsing history on exit") CHECKED,
but then CLICK the 'Delete' button beside it.
Then, CHECK the top option: "Preserve Favorites website data"
You can then press 'Cancel' -- it will leave that screen, but it will remember your "Preserve..." setting.
Now, you need to add the eVoucher website as a "Favorite" so this will remember them.
To add a favorite:
- Go to the website
- Click 'Favorites' from the top menu (or press ALT-A if you don't see 'Favorites' on the menu)
- Click 'Add to favorites...'
- Click the 'Add' button (optionally, you can rename the favorite and move it on this same screen)
The next time you set compatibility mode, it will 'stick' if you used method #1 or #2 above.
[Side-note: Microsoft stores the 'Compatibility Mode' info in browsing 'history' with the newer browsers, so if anything clears or deletes browsing history, it also deletes compatibility info . . . unless you exclude it, as shown above.]
